Position Overview

The technician will communicate directly with homeowners and report to the Single-Family Home Project Coordinator to ensure each residence remains safe, functional, and impeccably maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain regular communication with homeowners regarding daily operations, maintenance updates, and budgeting needs
- Conduct weekly routine property walk-throughs and inspect all mechanical systems and home structures
- Perform general repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting
- Ensure all home equipment (e.g., appliances, sump pumps, HVAC systems) operate properly
- Implement and follow preventive maintenance schedules as directed by the Project Coordinator or homeowners
- Coordinate, oversee, and verify work completed by third-party vendors and contractors
- Keep detailed maintenance records and submit daily reports to the SFH Project Coordinator and homeowners
- Comfortable working independently across various property sites with limited supervision.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and communication.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of residential maintenance or building operations experience
- Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail
- Proficient with hand and power tools; able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to assist with other properties around Illinois (i.e. Evanston, Glenview, Winnetka, Chicago, and surrounding neighborhoods)
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance
- Smartphone capable of receiving work updates and accessing digital reporting tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for evening/weekend emergencies
- You must pass a background check and provide professional references upon request
